This project was the winning scheme among over 500 entries in an international competition to design a 75,000 square foot arts center. The program consists of a state-of-the-art theater, a black-box theater, an amphitheater, an art gallery, and teaching spaces for music, dance, video, drama, and art. The jurors applauded the design for its sensitivity to the beautiful Hawaiian valley setting. The building is designed to nestle gently in the valley, maximizing views and incorporating outdoor spaces into the experience of the arts.
