The new Center for the Arts adjoins the existing theater and student center on the campus of Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania. The building houses the Freedman Art Gallery, a showcase for contemporary art, as well as studios for visual and performing arts and state of the art music practice facilities. The design organizes the arts components to form a quadrangle with existing structures. A circular courtyard connects the building to the quadrangle, and creates a gateway to the campus, welcoming members of the surrounding community.Sculptor Mary Miss collaborated on the design of the courtyard, which has become a focus for the campus.
