An existing Philadelphia warehouse was renovated to create living and working space for the architect. A large staircase connects the second floor living space to the loft and roof terrace above, and allows south light to enter the workspace on the ground level below. The staircase forms an interior garden, providing seating and display space in the living room and affording dramatic diagonal views through clerestory windows.
